Privacy policy
This explains what personal information I collect, why I collect it, and your rights.
Who I am
Clarkston Acupuncture Clinic is run by Clarkston Acupuncture Clinic Ltd, registered in Scotland, company number SC781162. The company is responsible for your information (the “data controller”).
Registered office: 492 Clarkston Road, Glasgow G44 3QE
Information Commissioner’s Office registration number: ZC270185
Email: info@clarkstonacupunctureclinic.co.uk
What I collect
- When you book: your name, email address, phone number, the appointment you book and a short note about what you’d like help with.
- When you pay: confirmation that you’ve paid. Card payments are handled by Stripe, so I never see or store your full card details.
- At your appointment: health information, such as your medical history, examination findings and treatment notes.
- When you send a message: your name, email address and what you write.
- When you visit the website: basic technical details, such as your IP address and browser, which the website host keeps for security.
Why I use it
- To book and provide your treatment. This is needed to carry out our agreement with you.
- To keep health records. I do this to provide healthcare, under the professional duty of confidentiality I have as a doctor registered with the General Medical Council.
- To take payment and keep financial records, which the law requires.
- To reply to your messages.
- To send occasional emails with clinic news and offers. If you’ve paid for treatment with me, I may email you about the clinic’s services, unless you tick the box to say no when you book. If you signed up for these emails, I send them because you asked. You can unsubscribe at any time, using the link in any email or by replying to tell me. I never use your health information for these emails.
Who I share it with
I never sell your information. I use a small number of trusted services to run the clinic, and they can only use your information to provide their service to me:
- Hostinger, which hosts this website and stores booking details and the email list
- Stripe, which processes card payments
- Google Workspace, which provides the clinic’s email
- Brevo, which sends clinic news emails
- Bunny.net, which plays the videos on this website
Some of these companies may handle information outside the UK, for example in the United States. When they do, they use safeguards approved under UK law.
I only share your health information with anyone else, such as your GP, if you ask me to or agree to it, or if the law requires it.
How long I keep it
- Health records: 8 years after your last appointment.
- Booking and payment records: 6 years, as tax law requires.
- Messages: up to 12 months, unless they become part of your health record.
Cookies
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. This website only uses cookies it needs to work:
- the booking form uses them to remember your choices while you book
- Stripe uses them to help prevent fraud when you pay
- the map on the Contact page is provided by Google, which may set its own cookies
I don’t use advertising or tracking cookies.
Your rights
You can ask me to:
- give you a copy of the information I hold about you
- correct anything that’s wrong
- delete your information, unless I have to keep it, for example health or tax records
- stop or limit how I use your information
- send your information to you or someone else in a common format
If you’ve agreed to something, such as emails, you can change your mind at any time. To use any of these rights, email info@clarkstonacupunctureclinic.co.uk. I’ll reply within one month.
Complaints
If you’re unhappy with how I’ve handled your information, please tell me first and I’ll do my best to put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
